Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

Present in a high concentration in neurons and in central and peripheral neuroendocrine cells. Primarily used to show neuroendocrine differentiation in association with other neuroendocrine and keratin markers. In isolation it has limited use due to reactivity in a wide range of tumors.
