Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

CD5 is found in most thymocytes and immature and mature T-cells. It is aberrantly expressed in some B-cell neoplasms chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, mantel cell lymphoma and Hairy cell leukemia. It is expressed in most T-cell malignancies, most thymic carcinomas but not in spindle cell thymomas.
